Salary range: £37,000 – £42,000 (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a Marketing and Product Sales Manager to join the team at OCSI.

This role at OCSI will suit a self-starting individual with experience working in a marketing and product sales role in a small organisation. We are looking for somebody who thinks strategically and can get up to speed fast – learning the ins and outs of both the business and the subject matter (place-based data!) quickly.  It is a great opportunity to work with public sector and third sector organisations, supporting them to use data better to make better decisions.

Sounds like my cup of tea – what does OCSI do?

Based in Brighton, we are a social research consultancy with a strong technical focus. We combine expertise in research and technology to support organisations working for social good to make evidence-based decisions.

We work with place-based data to help organisations better understand the communities they serve. We do this through consultancy projects such as the Indices of Deprivation and our work on left behind neighbourhoods. We also deliver long-term subscription based products (such as Local Insight) that provide direct access to local level data in easy to use platforms.

We are a small organisation, which means there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with all aspects of the business.

Take a look at our website to find out more about the projects we are working on.

What will the Marketing and Product Sales Manager do?

The successful candidate will be accountable for implementing OCSI’s marketing strategy (which is already set) and for the full sales cycle for our SaaS product, Local Insight. We will also be looking to launch new products and services during this time – you will be responsible for bringing these to market.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our key markets, identify trends and communicate any changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Have strategic oversight and responsibility for the CRM system and marketing channels; primarily websites, LinkedIn and email marketing
  • Be involved in the day-to-day marketing activities of the organisation including developing content (blogs, white papers, videos), running email marketing campaigns and maintaining a presence on LinkedIn.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of our marketing strategy – with a focus on developing and implementing effective lead generation strategies (paid and organic)
  • Lead the introduction of new products and services to market including defining the service offer, pricing models, developing marketing plans and internal coordination across product development, marketing, sales and customer support.
  • Generate ideas and a vision for fresh, informative and engaging content by making connections between policy priorities, customer needs, resource gaps, competitor analysis and keyword analysis.
  • Able to write authoritatively about our subject matter as well as provide guidance and editorial support and sign-off for other team members.

Product sales

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of product functionality and FAQs
  • Develop very good knowledge of the data available in our platform and what to highlight to audiences
  • Organise and run the majority of product demos – ensuring key messages and benefits are covered and real life use cases given
  • Upsell and cross-sell our different products and services
  • Be adaptable to different audiences, including presenting to senior decision makers
  • Provide feedback and feature requests to the product team
  • Oversee the free trial process,  follow up with leads and maintain the CRM system
  • Develop sales strategies for new products and services.
  • Negotiate with leads on costs and service delivery to make final sale
  • Monitor trends in sales and renewals for any potential downturns in income

Line management

  • Manage one team member, providing support and guidance on work planning
  • Offer constructive feedback on outputs and conduct regular one-to-one meetings to support career development.

Great! And what skills do I need to fit the bill?

We are looking for:

  • Proven experience in strategic marketing and sales roles, preferably within a similar B2B industry
  • Experience in lead generation strategies and tactics
  • Leadership experience with a track record of effectively managing team members
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems, email marketing and content marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Track record of meeting sales targets
  • Proven track record of self-management and able to work with little or no supervision
  • A credible and convincing spokesperson and negotiator for the company
  • Somebody that is adaptable and flexible to changing business needs
  • An outgoing individual that asks insightful questions, builds positive relationships and encourages collaborative working
  • An interest in social and public policy issues, and different ways to help tackle social problems.

Bonus skills/ experience (desirable, but not essential).

  • Experience with Monday.com CRM and its automations
  • Experience in managing paid advertising
  • Knowledge of SEO
  • Previous experience in a SaaS role.

Anything else I should know?

We largely work remotely but the successful applicant will be expected to attend our Brighton based offices for some meetings and events. You are also able to work from our office more regularly (or every day) if that suits you and your needs.

What we offer

  • 30 days annual holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Flexible working hours
  • Up to 5% matched pension
  • Training and development fund

How to apply

If you like the sound of all this, please send a copy of your CV and responses to the following two questions to kimberley.gregory@ocsi.co.uk:

  • Describe a successful lead generation strategy you have implemented in the past. What were the key components and how did you measure its success? [Up to 250 words]

Please note, we will not accept applications that do not include responses to these questions.

However, we reserve the right to fill the position early, so please send through your application as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you.
