Who we are

  • We are a spin-out research consultancy from the Social Disadvantage Research Centre at the University of Oxford (hence the “Oxford” bit in our name).
  • Since launching in 2003 we have worked with over 180 organisations.
  • Based in Brighton, our core team combines specialised research skills and an expert tech team, to provide tools & analysis to the public sector.

A Brief History of OCSI

Our early projects focused on analysing the UK census and other key datasets to help local authorities target their resources to the areas most in need & to evaluate the impact of their work.

Now we also have a strong technical development focus & have started developing tools to help local organisations make use of nationally published open data.

Meet the team

We are a diverse and passionate bunch of researchers, developers and comms people. The OCSI team is also active in supporting public services and open data, and are regular speakers at events.
