Census 2011 key stats for small areas pushed back to end of January

Census population figures at small area level

This release will provide the population estimates, initially released in July 2012 at LA level, for small area geographies. The release comprises:

• usually resident census population estimates for England and for Wales at output area level and ward level, by five year age bands and sex
• estimates of occupied households for England and for Wales at country, at output area level, and ward level.

New publication dates for census key statistics

The ONS have revised dates for publication of the Census 2011 Key Statistics. This will be released in three phases.

The first phase (Census 2011 data release 2.1) will be published on the 11th of December. This release will contain 35 key statistics tables and nine quick statistics tables. Data will be published down to Local Authority District level. See here for the full details of the tables included in this release.

The second phase (Census 2011 data release 2.2) is scheduled to be published on January 31st (2013). This will include the full package of key and quick statistics for the output area hierarchy in England and Wales (107 tables). Information will also be provided for wards, parishes and parliamentary constituencies.

The third phase is due for publication before the end of February 2013 (Date will be confirmed a minimum of four
weeks before the release). This release will include the full package of key and quick statistics for Welsh Government devolved
constituencies, National Parks, as well as postcode sectors and health areas. Estimates of number of
households and population by sex for each postcode will also be published.
