Updating the Indices of Deprivation

We’re over the moon to have been selected by the UK Department of Communities and Local Government to update the Indices of Deprivation datasets.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the most important data tools available to organisations that tackle deprivation. It’s no secret that we’ve long seen the Indices as a critical information source, helping government and other organisations target resources to areas and groups across the country most in need. Eg see our previous blogs on the importance of the IMD, headline results for IMD 2010 and visualising the IMD.

We’ll follow up with more information as the project takes shape. In the meantime, you can email indices@ocsi.co.uk to register for updates on the project and to get involved in the user engagement and consultation. The official DCLG release is here.
