We are proud to announce that we have successfully redeveloped and launched an entirely new version of our landmark place-based data platform, Local Insight, and we’re beyond excited to share it with you.

Featuring significant improvements within all parts of the platform, we’ve dubbed this new version ‘Local Insight 2.0’, and its full launch marks the beginning of a new era for OCSI, and we’re excited for you to join us on this journey.

These improvements include new dynamic, in-depth Reports for areas of almost any size, new ways to explore Ward data directly, and the ability to map out a much wider array of Services than before, which we hope will make it easier than ever for subscribing organisations to make better-informed decisions to serve their local communities.

The original version of Local Insight was first developed nine whole years ago (!), with the aim of assisting organisations, such as charities, Grantmakers and councils with their strategic planning and service delivery, while helping them to make useful insights about their communities through a number of small-area data indicators paired with sophisticated mapping and reporting tools.

Over the years that followed, lots of new features and hundreds of datasets were steadily introduced, providing new ways for users to explore the latest available information on their areas and analyse their local communities. In the latest version of the place-based data platform, there are over 1500 indicators available across an enormous range of themes.

While we’re certainly proud of the platform and what it provided, the original version of Local Insight was showing its age. This is why we have taken everything we learned from our years working on the platform and used that knowledge to create a more seamless experience, bringing huge improvements to the user interface, a massive upgrade to reports, and new functionalities that have been requested for years.

On top of that, the new platform is designed with flexibility at its core, meaning we can evolve Local Insight along with your needs much more easily. It was only one month ago that we finished migrating our clients from the Legacy version to Local Insight 2.0, and we’ve already introduced a number of new features and updates and we have no plans on slowing down.
