The first Census 2021 outputs are here. The data is  available for all local authorities in England and Wales. We are working on adding this data to Local Insight, which will be available very very soon!

What Census 2021 data has been published?

Population and household estimates

The first outputs include a total of 63 datasets under the headings of 

  • Usual resident population by sex
  • Usual resident population by 5-year age group
  • Usual resident population by sex and 5-year age group
  • Usual resident population density

Selected countries of birth

In March 2022, ONS published some interim data on ‘Selected countries of birth’ based on Census 2021 responses. These were published in order to support local and national emergency response planning. They are not final census estimates and have not been adjusted for under coverage in the census.

The datasets cover residents born in:

  • Afghanistan
  • Belarus
  • Estonia
  • Hungary
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Moldova
  • Poland
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • Slovakia
  • Ukraine
